Op het Gezondheidsplein zal van bezoekers de bloedglucosewaarde, bloeddruk en Body Mass Index (BMI, verhouding gewicht versus lengte) worden bepaald onder supervisie van internist dr. Kharagjitsinghvan Medisch Centrum Haaglanden en diabetesverpleegkundigen Carla Autar en Agnes Staalleker. Bezoekers kunnen zich er op vrijdag 30 juli (17.00 tot22.00 uur), op zaterdag 31 juli (15.00 tot22.00 uur) en zondag 1 augustus (14.00 tot 22.00 uur) gratis laten testen. Bezoekers die na deze test een verhoogd diabetesrisicoprofiel lijken te hebben, worden doorverwezen naar hun eigen huisarts. Er worden geen behandeladviezen gegeven, wel krijgen de bezoekers informatie mee over de ziekte diabetes en over leven met diabetes.

De diabetesscreening wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door farmaceutisch bedrijf Lilly Nederland. Lilly startte eerder samen met Diabetesvereniging Nederland en AGIS Zorgverzekeraar een speciaal diabeteszorgprogramma onder de naam ‘Club Diabest’.

Rushing into meetings and looking around for business development opportunities, made the fair a busy and killing happening.

In the end we spoke to 132 potential partners and learned a lot about this changing market.

EIBTM was a huge success.

This year the Parvasi Divas is held in The Hague at the World Forum. The Netherlands harbors more and more Indians. Mostly they are in the clothing business, IT sector, business management, restaurant business, but nowadays they are into everything, Besides these NRIs (non-resident indian) there are a lot of PIOs (People of Indian Origin) living in the Netherlands. Primarily Suriname Hindustani people who migrated to Suriname when Suriname was still occupied by The Netherlands. The Netherlands has more then 200.000 people who have their origin in India living within it’ borders.

Saturday the event focuses on business oportunities between The Netherlands and India, between businesses from India and The Netherlands and new cooperation between them. PBDE is an excellent way to meet new people and new business relations.

Major speakers such as Yvonne van Rooy, chairman of the board Utrecht University, and Caroline Princen, ABN AMRO board, will address the business network on September 25 at the Academy building in Utrecht.

The focus will be on networking amongst alumni and the possibilities the university offers to entrepreneurs and the whole business sector. More and more small companies are created based on studies and results obtained at the university, which might be beneficiary to the business sector.

Chairman Yvonne van Rooy will explain the possibilities for companies at the UU and what the UU might offer to these companies. Furthermore she will focus on the new infrastructure which focusses on the entrepreneurs and new companies within the UU.

Caroline Princen, former director of Nedstaal and present member of the board of the ABN AMRO bank, will focus on the financial market and the use of this specific network in this sector or the UU.

Professor Arie Buijs (Finance), director UCEME, will specially address the infrastructure and the different units of the UU which focus on aiding and supporting new start ups and young entrepreneurs.

Kevin Vooges, Founder of YUNOO, is an alumni which developed a new service together with his co-students at that time. This financial aid service has caught the eye of several large companies and banks. Their company is a perfect example of what is being achieved at the UU.

Afterwards all participants can chat and mingle during the network drink. The aim is to create a large base which will lead to a active club which provides for the UU and on the other hand benefits from each other and the UU.

Getting used to the fact that more and more of the festival is being centralized and organized, people tend to respect the choices made by the organization. Specially the stringent policy on alcohol-use and abuse needed getting used to the most. People were not allowed to bring their own drinks like in the past. Still everybody got acquainted with the new system.

In the end everybody enjoined themselves and everything else on the festival. It is going to be difficult to top this 25 year anniversary. Although a challenge might prove necessary to achieve greater heights. Something everybody should check out next year.

The founder and director of Buzz-E being an alumni of Utrecht University happy to hear that the university wanted to invest in business relations and networks.

Buzz-E jumped right on the wagon and helped starting up this new alumni business network which will have it’s first meeting on June 19 at the academic building in the center of Utrecht.
